Malaysia wildlife adventures: elephants, orangutans, bats

Here's a fantastic video highlighting some of the wildlife animal adventures in Malaysia, in particular those near or around Kuala Lumpur. Of these, the only one I've been to is the Batu Caves with the infamous monkeys and bat droppings; after watching this, I definitely want to do and see more! The video starts with the Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary, that rescues orphaned or captured elephants; then on to Kuala Lumpur Bird Park, the Semengoh Forest Reserves and the amazing orangutans, and finally the Batu Caves.

Malaysia wild tiger population to double by 2020

From the BBC comes news of the Malaysian government's plan to double the country's wild tiger population by 2020. According to the article, "Conservation groups and the government have set an ambitious target of expanding the tiger population from 500 to around 1,000 over 12 years." Malaysia - promotional tourism video

This video is actually pretty well done for a Malaysian promo video. You'll have to ignore the small white bars on the top and the somewhat cheesy music, but past that, there are some wonderful clips of Malaysia, including both land and water-based adventures.

ecotourism in Malaysia - bandwagon or real business?

The audio synching is a bit off, but it's still worth a good watch; you can stop with about 30-seconds to go as the video continues too long. This is a news-oriented video clip investigating and reporting on ecotourism in Malaysia. Obviously, with climate change and global warming, everyone wants to be an ecotourist nowadays, and Malaysian tour operators are no different; but it's become somewhat of a buzz-word, so it's up to the tourism industry to come up with trade standards to better define good practices.
